Pienaar seeks talks with Tottenham chiefs
Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar is desperate to discuss the valuation Spurs officials have placed on him after QPR were told they would have to pay £6m, according to The Daily Mail. Pienaar has seen his first-team chances limited since his January 2011 move from Everton.
QPR have offered £3m for the 29 year old South African, who has made only two league appearances so far this season. Pienaar came off the bench late at the Etihad Stadium yesterday as Manchester City beat Spurs 3-2, but the South African international is angry with Tottenham's stance. The midfielder wants to play regular first-team football and is disappointed that the club have not accepted a bid from the R's.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp may look to sell Pienaar to raise funds for a late January bid, but chairman Daniel Levy is keeping his valuation at £6m. The South African international has failed to dislodge Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon from the winger spots at White Hart Lane and faces a lengthy time on the sidelines if a deal away from the club cannot be negotiated.
Another player reportedly interested in a move away from White Hart Lane is striker Roman Paylyuchenko, but Spurs have offered him an extension on his one year deal. Tottenham are still prepared to listen to offers from clubs and have offered the Russian to Newcastle and Sunderland. Russian side Rubin Kazan are still interested in the 30 year old and could make a fresh bid before the end of the window.
