Sandro confident Spurs are still in the title hunt

By Bryan Waters

Thursday 26 January 2012

Injured Tottenham midfielder Sandro still believes that his side have the capabilities to win the Premier League title this season, The Daily Mail reports. Spurs are eight points behind Manchester City after their 3-2 loss at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday and face a battle to catch up with the league leaders.

The Brazilian did not feature against City with a calf problem and has not been involved since injury against West Brom on January 3rd. Sandro's absence has coincided with a slight dip in form and of the 10 games Sandro has started, Spurs are unbeaten. Speculation of the 22 year old leaving White Hart Lane has been dismissed and the midfielder is hopeful he can get back quickly to help Harry Redknapp once again.

Sandro said: 'We've still got our minds on the title, for sure. That's been our objective since we started working our way up to the top of the table. We've got a great squad, and we've got to think bigger than just a Champions League place. I've been thinking about that run lately and the other wins we've had when I've come off the bench. Things have gone well whenever I've played this season, and that's why I feel we're still in the mix for the title.'

Spurs face Watford in the FA Cup on Friday night and face fitness problems with Younes Kaboul, Gareth Bale and Scott Parker who all suffered strains in training. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will be at the game and will take charge of team selection, despite his current court case for tax evasion.
