Tottenham holding out for £8m for Dos Santos
Giovani Dos Santos is expected to speak with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy after Villarreal's £6.5m offer for the Mexican was rejected, according to The Daily Mail. Dos Santos is keen to return to Spain and is hoping the Spurs chairman will reduce his demands to allow a move.
Levy is always looking to maximise profit and make as much money from signings as possible, but Dos Santos is just hoping to get a move away from White Hart Lane. The 22 year old was rated as one of the brightest talents in Europe when he moved from Barcelona in 2006, but has failed to push into the first team. Harry Redknapp has farmed the Mexican on loan during his time at Spurs and Dos Santos has spent time in Spain with Racing Santander.
Dos Santos now wants to move back and sees Villarreal as a good option, despite their poor La Liga standing. The Spanish side are currently just above the relegation zone and above Granada, who are also interested in Dos Santos. Granada president Quique Pina claimed that his side were the only Spanish club interested in Dos Santos, but Villarreal vice president Jose Manuel Llaneza has contradicted those claims by saying his side are in negotiations with Spurs.
Llaneza said: 'The negotiations are well on the way and it seems like the player wants to come to Villarreal. The deal is not finalised, but we expect a solution by the weekend. Villarreal needs more attacking players.'
