Redknapp absence will not effect Tottenham in Watford clash

By Andy Brunning

Friday 27 January 2012

Harry Redknapp’s assistant Kevin Bond has insisted that the manager’s absence due to his ongoing court case will not affect the Tottenham team in their upcoming games against Watford and Wigan, reports The Guardian.

Redknapp’s tax case is expected to last for two weeks, and has meant the 64-year-old manager is unable to attend team training sessions, though he is expected to take charge in the dugout during games. Bond played down the impact of his absence, citing the three weeks Redknapp spent recovering from heart surgery earlier in the season as proof of the team’s ability to cope in his absence.

“Harry wasn’t here a few weeks back, and really, we are just carrying on without him,” he said. “To a large degree, the training is exactly the same; it’s just that Harry is not there overseeing it.” Referring to their upcoming FA Cup tie with Watford, Bond added, “We would like to win a competition. People are remembered for medals; a cup competition is a better proposition for us than the league at this moment.”
