Tottenham in talks for Brazil youngster

By Andy Brunning

Friday 27 January 2012

Tottenham are in talks to sign highly-rated Brazilian U-20 defender Bruno Uvini, according to The Daily Mail.

Uvini, 20, currently plays his football for Brazilian side Sao Paulo, having graduated to the senior side from their youth academy. He has also played at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, captaining the Brazil side to their fifth title in the competition.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Uvini follows previous target Gary Cahill’s move to Chelsea, and what is becoming an increasingly fruitless pursuit of Blackburn’s Chris Samba, with his parent club adamant he is not for sale. Spurs are thought to be looking into the possibility of a loan deal for Uvini for the remainder of the season, with a view to permanent move if he excels.

However, due to his young age and lack of senior international call-ups, the North London club could run into work permit problems if any move becomes a reality.
