Tottenham battle with PSG for £22m Damiao
Tottenham are considering becoming embroiled in a transfer battle for the signature of Leandro Damiao, according to Metro.
Spurs have long been admirers of the 22-year-old Brazilian, who plays for Brazilian side Internacional, and has an impressive record there of 21 goals in 53 games. They had hoped that previous links forged via the signing of Sandro from the same club might sway negotiations in their favour with regard to Damiao. Tottenham may be in need of a striker in the summer if Emmanuel Adebayor’s current loan is not consolidated into a permanent move, so chairman Daniel Levy may be tempted to table an offer.
However, latest reports suggest that French side PSG are trying to secure his services, backed up by their financial clout. The Parisian club have already signed defender Alex from Chelsea, and had been linked with a deal for Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez before talks fell through. Now, they have turned their attentions to Damiao, whose services could cost as much as £22 million.
