Spurs still plan Blackburn double deal

By Andy Brunning

Tuesday 31 January 2012

Harry Redknapp is set to rekindle his interest in Blackburn duo Junior Hoilett and Chris Samba, in a last ditch deadline day bid, reports The Express.

Samba, 27, has been a target for Spurs for most of the month, and has made clear his desire to depart from Blackburn. However, with a contract that runs until 2015, the Premier League strugglers are under no pressure to sell, and have stated their intention to retain Samba’s services.

Meanwhile, Junior Hoilet’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the 21-year-old Canadian has been heavily linked with a move away. However, manager Steve Kean has expressed optimism that the winger will sign a new deal with the club if he does not leave in the January transfer window.

Tottenham could tempt Blackburn with a late joint bid for the duo, with the club looking for cover both in central defence and on the wings. No figure is placed on the potential price of the offer, but it is likely to need to be sizeable due to Samba’s contract situation.
