Liverpool news - Reds in for Adriano, gerrad wants out after Rafa confirms stay, Juventus return with second Aquilani bid

By Tim Doel

Saturday 22 May 2010

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Liverpool. Today:

Reds in race for Adriano.

Reports coming out of Italy say that Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Roma in trying to bring former Inter striker Adriano back to Europe. The Brazilian will be available on a free transfer, although his wages are expected to be very significant, and there remain doubts over his state of mind, which saw him leave Inter for a return to first club Flamengo in 2009.

Gerrard runs out of patience at Liverpool.

Club captain Steven Gerrard is ready to leave Liverpool, after finding out that manager Rafa Benitez is set to stay, according to the Daily Mail. It is said that Gerrard has been unhappy with the mistakes made by the Spanish manager this year, and had based his own decision to stay on whether Bentitez would accept a highly talked about role at Inter or Juventus.

Aquilani deal back on the table.

Juventus have made a second approach to sign former Roma midfielder Alverto Aquilani from Liverpool, according to Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport. It is claimed that Liverpool have already rejected an offer of £11m, but it is thought than an offer of £15m would be too much to refuse for the Anfield club.

Tony, quotes taken from Steven Gerrard today: "After the World Cup you have three or four weeks of holiday to consider what the next best move will be for you." Stop talking a load of shite Tony.

Ref Aquilani, Of course £11m is out of the question. Naturally as we bought him for £20m then spent a fortune in time and medical expertise to get him well and fit it is only fitting that we do the Liverpool thing and sell him at an enormous loss! Then we can do exactly the same this year with another lame duck hey? get real!!!

Taken from an interview with Steven Gerrard this afternoon (22/05/10): “Where does your future lie?” asked the reporter. “What do you mean?” replied the captain. “In terms of, you know, will you be at Liverpool next season?” clarified the reporter. “Well I’ve got three years left so I will be. Yes.” Stop printing a lot of auld shite without any quotes or source. This is a quote directly from the LFC Captain.
