By James Fudge

Thursday 03 June 2010

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Arsenal reject Barcelona approach.

Arsenal have rejected a informal advances from Spanish giants Barcelona, for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. “There has never been any official approach for him, only two informal exchanges, in which we made it abundantly clear that we have no interest in transferring Cesc, we have refrained from publicly passing comment.” The Arsenal official website stated. The centre midfielder has expressed his desire to join his boyhood club, after a number of seasons without winning a trophy at the Emirates.

J. Cole to complete Arsenal move.

According to the various reports in the media, England star Joe Cole will join the Gunners. The midfielder is set to move on a free transfer, after Chelsea were not prepared to offer the midfielder a new deal. The ex-West Ham player is set to have turned down a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United, West Ham and Tottenham.

Gunners face challenge for Gourcuff.

Arsenal face serious competition from Lyon to secure the signature of French star Yoann Gourcuff. The French team are looking to ‘break the bank’ for the Bordeaux playmaker, according to the Daily Mail. Although there is serious competition, the French star is said to be favouring a move to North London as his playing style would fit football in the Premier League.
