Tottenham news - Spurs Parker chase, Deadline day latest

By Luke Ricketts

Tuesday 31 August 2010

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Spurs Parker chase latest.

Tottenham are continuing to press for West Ham’s Scott Parker with just hours left until the transfer window closes. According to the Telegraph, Harry Redknapp’s improved bid of £7 million, is hoped to be enough to tempt the 29-year-old to White Hart Lane. Tottenham have already landed Brazilian midfielder Ranieri Sandro from Internacional but it is understood Redknapp is after a more centralised playmaker to strengthen his squad.

Luis Fabiano signs new deal.

Any chance of signing Luis Fabiano on the last day of transfers has been blown out of the water, after Sevilla announced the Brazilian had signed a new two year contract with the club. Fabiano has been at the top of Harry Redknapp’s wish list this summer, but the news will end any chance of Spurs landing their man. Olympique Marseille were also fronting the race for his signature, but according to Goal.com, neither side were willing to meet the £14.7 million asking price.

Huntelaar to Schalke.

With the news Luis Fabiano has signed a new contract with Sevilla, another of Tottenham’s summer targets has slipped through the net after Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar signed for Schalke. According to Skysports, the former AC Milan striker has joined the German side for £10.5 million, after a difficult season in Serie A where he failed to impress. Redknapp has been interested in the 27-year-old for some time, but the striker was less than co-operative an opted to join the Bundesliga runners-up.
