Man City news - Benjani slams City, Ibra suggests City interest, Toure tips Adebayor to shine

By Bryan Waters

Friday 03 September 2010

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Manchester City. Today:

Benjani slams City.

Benjani has joined Martin Petrov and Stephen Ireland in firing a parting shot at ex-employers Man City, the Telegraph reports. The Zimbabwean striker has claimed that there is no trust behind the scenes at Eastlands and that he is happy to resume his career somewhere else. Benjani said: “It seemed like, behind the scenes at Manchester City, there is no trust. When I say there is no trust, if you look back to last year, they bought eight or nine players and I think six or seven are already on their way out. That’s what I mean about trust. You need to be loved, even if you change the manager.” Benjani will face a hostile reception when he travels with new side Blackburn Rovers to Man City on September 11.

Ibra suggests City interest.

The Sun reports that new AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic did not join Man City, because he wants to win things now and not in the future. The Swedish striker joined the Rossoneri on a season long loan from Barcelona and the 28-year-old hinted there was an offer from Man City, but he believes they are a side for later down the line. Ibrahimovic said: “City are still a side for the future. I chose Milan because they are a team that can win prizes now.” He also added: “City must fight Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal - sides which took years to build.”

Toure tips Adebayor to shine.

Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has indicated that striker Emmanuel Adebayor is happy at the club and must fight for his place. There has been rumours all summer that the Togolese forward would be leaving Eastlands and was frustrated with his lack of chances in the team, but Toure has maintained faith in his fellow African. The Ivorian defender told talkSPORT: “Adebayor had a difficult season last year but he is working hard. He was nearly killed so he needed time to get over that. He is happy at City and you will see a much better player this year. I’m sure he will be one of the best players in England this season - he will be back to his best.”

Adebayour never LOOKS frustrated - he always looks like he's having a whale of a time when he's playing. He was a bit sulky near the end at arsenal, but nothing at City. He cuts out a lot of opposition corners, plays deep like a midfilder, then pops up in the right place to score. And he seems to get at least one game every week. He scores his fair share of goals, and he's not a greedy player, he sets up a lot of goals for other players with his holdup play.
