Van der Vaart reveals Reds snub.
Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has revealed that he decided to join Tottenham on transfer deadline day, despite solid interest from Liverpool. It was reported that German giants Bayern Munich also made a bid to acquire the services of the 27-year-old, however, he told Sky Sports News that the Germans were never in the running. On his decision to pick Spurs ahead of Liverpool, Van der Vaart said: “In the end you have to have a good feeling, and with this manager I got a good feeling. I am happy and I am going to Spurs.” It is also widely believed that the lure of Champions League football also played a major part in attracting the Dutchman to White Hart Lane.
Former Red keen to prove a point.
Italian defender Andrea Dossena is looking forward to meeting former club Liverpool in the Europa League this season. Now at Napoli, the 28-year-old is eager to play against the Reds, particularly at Anfield on November 4. Dossena’s spell on Merseyside was largely disappointing, with many Reds fans questioning his suitability to play in the Premier League. However, the man who scored against Manchester United and Real Madrid within the space of a week whilst in a Reds shirt, now wants to show the Anfield faithful his true defensive capabilities when the sides clash in Europe.
Didi dreams of managing Liverpool.
Former Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamman wants to return to Merseyside one day - as manager of the Anfield club, according to the Daily Mail. The German star - now at MK Dons - is currently working as a player/coach and is looking to get his coaching badges. Hamman will largely be remembered at Liverpool for his introduction against AC Milan in the Champions League final of 2005, where he was a key component in the Reds sensational comeback. Now, the 37-year-old is aiming to play a part in Liverpool’s future success, claiming that to manage the famous club “would be a dream come true.”
