Defoe injury cause found.
Jemain Defoe’s groin injury was caused by a weight-training machine The Sun has revealed today. Tottenham’s medical team discovered the players injury was caused by a training machine they had suggested he used in order to strengthen his stomach muscles. Defoe was due to undergo surgery last Tuesday which would have ruled him out of England’s European qualifier against Bulgaria, but the striker opted to put the operation on hold - a decision that was rewarded with a hat-trick.
van der Vaart set for subs.
Tottenham’s surprise signing of the summer Rafael van der Vaart will play a crucial part in Tottenham’s season, but is not so favourably selected in the Dutch national team. The 27-year-old midfielder was only used as a half-time substitute in Friday’s 5-0 win over San Marino and is predicted to start on the bench for Holland’s match against Finland tomorrow. “Of course it's always hard when I don't start for the Oranje,” he told www.ad.nl, “But I'm not going to let my head drop.”
Naughton to Sheffield.
Spurs defender Kyle Naughton could be on his way to Sheffield United on loan according to reports in The Mail. The Blades have said they are interested in Naughton who developed through the side’s youth team before cementing himself in the first team back in the 2008/09 season. The 21-year-old only joined Spurs this summer alongside Kyle Walker but has yet to make his debut in the Premier League.
