Tottenham Hotspur News - Former Arsenal striker Adebayor linked with return to North London

By John Baines

Tuesday 30 November 2010

Tottenham are said to be in with a chance of landing former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan in January.

The Togolese ace has become an increasingly peripheral figure at Manchester City following his £25 million move to Eastland’s in the summer of 2009, and has his fragile relationship with Roberto Mancini means a temporary move away from the Citizens is a strong possibility.

A Tottenham source told the Sun: "There is a real chance we could land Manu in the transfer window - although a lot does depend on who pays his wages. City expect us to pay the bulk but the big question is how far our board are prepared to go."

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric believes the Lilywhites must quickly improve their away form if any title aspirations are to be realised. Only Manchester United and Chelsea have better home records than Spurs this term, which further belittles dropped points on the road to Bolton, West Ham and West Brom. Those fixtures have proved detrimental to Tottenham’s charge, as Harry Redknapp’s men find themselves lying in fifth spot, six points adrift of leaders United by six points. Modric said: "We are struggling away but if we can improve that part of our game, we will be big contenders for the title."

Younes Kaboul and Rafael van der Vaart will this week find out the extent of their respective injuries sustained against Liverpool on Sunday. Dutch star Van der Vaart limped off early into proceedings with a suspected torn hamstring and will undergo a scan to determine how long he will be missing. Early estimations put the lay-off at approximately three weeks, however of more concern to Harry Redknapp will be Kaboul’s damaged hip. Redknapp is already short of defensive cover with Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King out indefinitely, whilst Michael Dawson has also been sidelined since September.

Not going to happen, City won't weaken themselves and at the same time strengthen a rival
