Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Newcastle. Today:

Campbell ready for first team action.
Newcastle United defender Sol Campbell is looking to make his first team debut against Blackpool in the game after the international break, BBC Sport reports. The game is on September 11 and Campbell only played 45 minutes of Newcastle’s reserve game against Sunderland on Tuesday night, but the 35 year old maintains he will be ready. Campbell said: “I'm going to work towards that, that's going to be the aim for me. I'm going to keep working hard and I'm happy with how things are going.” Despite his successful past experience with three top flight Premier League teams and 73 England caps to his name, Campbell faces a tough task to displace central defenders Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini in the team.
25-man squad announced.
Newcastle also announced their 25-man squad and veteran defender Sol Campbell made the cut along with new loan signing Hatem Ben Arfa. Campbell, at 35, is one of the oldest in the squad and his experience will be vital for the team. Ben Arfa, at 23, just misses the under 21 rule, which is any player under the age of 21 does not have to be included, so he had to be accounted for. Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has a lot of players under the age of 21 to call on, including hotshot striker Andy Carroll.
Hughton happy with squad.
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has said that he is happy with the players he has got, the Newcastle Journal reports. Hughton brought in five new players to St. James Park including highly-rated 23-year-old winger Hatem Ben Arfa on loan from Marseille, and despite missing out on Spurs striker Robbie Keane, the Newcastle manager is happy with what he has to work with. “I was content to have a quiet deadline day. I was still in my office all day because you are never entirely sure what is going to happen, but I am perfectly happy with what we’ve managed to do in the transfer window,” Hughton said. “I’m pleased with the players I’ve been able to sign and I feel I have got the targets I wanted in the areas that needed to be strengthened over the summer.”
