Faubert still hoping for Hammers exit

By Tom Bowers

Tuesday 23 August 2011

West Ham winger Julien Faubert has re-iterated his intention to leave the East London club despite a great amount of admiration for new manager Sam Allardyce.

The Frenchman has starred in the Hammers' last two games against Leeds and Watford but told London 24 he still sees his future away from Upton Park: "For me, I still want a move. It was a tough time last season; I had the worst season in my career to be honest."

However despite this Faubert has assured the fans that despite eyeing an imminent move away he will still endeavour to give his all for the club because of the fresh approach that Allardyce has brought to the club: "He respects all the players and that is not what happened last season. We sat down and we talked man to man and I said to him that if you need me at any time, I will give my best any time while I'm here.

"I think that is why I like this kind of man, because even if I'm not in the starting XI, he respects me and he respects what I've done before in football and he knows I can help the team."

The 28-year-old has an impressive looking résumé which includes time at Bordeaux and even an eyebrow-raising loan spell at Catalan giants Real Madrid.

However he was only to make two appearances during his time in Spain and as well as accidentally missing training due to a presumption that he had a day off he was also pictured asleep on the bench during a game with Villarreal.

Nonetheless Faubert's recent performances will no doubt have put him in the shop window for his desired move away and it will be interesting to see if anyone comes knocking for the Frenchman's services in the next eight days.
