Luis García: We will sign Gavilán and Pedro León
Saturday 19 November 2011
Getafe’s 3-2 victory over Atlético Madrid with 10 men lifted them off the bottom of the table and Luis García’s side now face a crucial trip to Sporting Gijón. Here, the Getafe boss speaks to J.A. De la Rosa of AS before Sunday’s game.
What are you expecting from Sporting? Sporting will fight for every ball and their biggest exponent of this is Barral. At home they can count on something the majority of teams don’t have, which is a crowd capable of lifting them. They are one point below us and we have to keep them there.
Is this the time the team’s negative run is about to change? We have had no luck with injuries. After this game we have Barcelona, which is very difficult, so we have to make the best of the win against Atlético, which was almost heroic
Any comment on the possible signings of Guti and Jurado? None. Nothing to say. I’m just thinking of those players who will be in Gijón. There are always rumours in the winter market. The signings we make in winter will be Gavilán and Pedro León.
What do you think of Colunga saying he will play for Getafe all this season? I’m delighted he said that and has that attitude. There’s no problem with him. He just needs to continue working and he’ll get his chance. In the December market some strange things happen, but I am very happy with what I have, although the squad is quite large.
Is Gavilán injured again? The lad has had bad luck. However, his moral is bomb-proof despite what has happened. He now has a torn muscle. We miss him and will support him.
Will you choose the same midfield and defence against Sporting? Lacen and Michel played very well. Others could come in, but to have the same line-up is an option for us. In defence Rafa will play and hopefully he will be okay for the full match.
