Sergio Ramos criticises Copa del Rey dismissal
Thursday 02 February 2012
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has criticised the decision by the Comité de Competición - the Spanish league’s disciplinary arm - not to overturn his sending off for a second bookable offence in last week’s second-leg quarter-final of the Copa del Rey against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
Ramos was dismissed late in the game for an alleged elbow on Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets, with subsequent replays showing there had been minimal contact, and he voiced his disagreement via Twitter after the decision was upheld with Madrid claiming they wanted to appeal against the card.
“After the Comité’s findings I respect the referee can be wrong,” tweeted the Spanish international. “But what I don’t understand is that after watching the video, where you can clearly see the action does not deserve a card, that I am still suspended. These things could only happen here. What can we do...!”, he concluded.
