Barcelona willing to trade youngsters in bid to land Bale
Wednesday 08 February 2012
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is set to pull out all the stops in an attempt to land Tottenham Hotspur flyer Gareth Bale and is even willing to trade some of Barca’s promising youngsters in part-exchange.
Guardiola has placed Bale at the top of his summer wish list ahead of Valencia’s Jordi Alba and AC Milan defender Thiago Silva and is ready to offer wingers Isaac Cuenca, Cristian Tello and midfielder Jonathan dos Santos as bait: he is also willing to listen to a players-plus-cash deal.
The same publication says Barcelona are prepared to listen to proposals similar to the buy-back agreement they have with Chelsea over Oriol Romeu, who joined the Londoners for €5m in August, 2011 on a four-year contract. The 20-year-old has a clause inserted in it stating the Catalans could buy him back for €10m within the first year, rising to €15m in 2013.
Arsenal are also understood to be monitoring Cuenca and Tello’s progress while Chelsea are on the trail of all three should the Spanish giants be ready to do business.
