Levante to disclipline on-loan Arsenal midfielder
Wednesday 22 February 2012
Levante have opened disciplinary proceedings against midfielder Pedro Botelho after the Brazilian went missing after Los Granotas’ 4-2 away defeat to Real Madrid on February 12, reports ABC.
The 22-year-old, on loan from Arsenal, only arrived at the Ciutat de Valencia a month ago after starting this season with Rayo Vallecano but allegedly left the Levante party without permission after the game and did not turn up at the Valencia-based club the following day. Although Botelho has not been dropped from the squad there will now be disciplinary proceedings instigated and the player asked to explain his actions.
This latest is episode is just one of a string of acts of indiscipline by Botelho during his loan career in Spain, where he has had spells at Salamanca, Celta Vigo, Cartagena, Rayo Vallecano and now Levante. In 2009 he was jettisoned from the Salamanca squad by boss David Amaral and 12 months later at Celta Vigo was involved in a fight with a teammate and clashed with Coach Eusebio Sacristán.
Last month, when he was still with Rayo, Botelho was also involved in an accident with a police vehicle in the early hours of the morning and subsequently tested positive for alcohol.
