Rayo Vallecano pair interesting Chelsea
According to Calcio Mercato, Chelsea are keeping tabs on Rayo Vallecano pair Michu and Alhassane ‘Lass’ Bangoura as they look to strengthen their squad before the start of next season.
Both players have been an integral part of José Ramón Sandoval’s starting line-up this campaign as the Madrid side sit in a comfortable 11th place in the table, just three points off the European places, and their impressive form has seen a host of clubs in attendance at Vallecas in recent weeks.
Striker Bangoura joined Rayo in the 2009/10 season from hometown team Etoile de Guinee and made his full league debut in March, 2011, coming off the bench in a 1-0 home win over Real Betis. The 19-year-old went on to make another three substitute appearances last term but has really shot to prominence this season, making 18 appearances and scoring three goals.
In Michu’s case, the 25-year-old only arrived at Rayo last summer from Celta Vigo, signing a two-year deal with the newly-promoted club, yet his eight goals in nine league and cup games from midfield since the beginning of December have earned him rave reviews since.
With the cash-strapped Rojiblancos having suffered severe economic problems over the past 12 months they could decide to cash in this summer on what appears to be their two prize assets.
