Madrid keen on Aguero-Higuaín swap
According to AS, Real Madrid are ready to make Kun Aguero their number one summer transfer target and will offer Gonzalo Higuaín in part exchange.
Madrid boss José Mourinho is prepared to bring the Manchester City striker back to Spain after his €45m move from Atlético Madrid at the start of the season, and will throw in Higuaín plus €10m for a player he was linked with one year ago. It is understood Aguero has known for some months that Los Blancos are hot on his trail and has even intimated to some of his teammates that he suspects he will end up in the Spanish capital next term.
The Argentine international is someone City boss Roberto Mancini is anxious to keep at the Etihad Stadium following a successful campaign during which he has scored 17 goals, yet despite his contribution the Blues were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage and the Europa League by Sporting Lisbon. There have also been exits from both domestic cup competitions and a poor run of form in the league that has seen Manchester United leapfrog them at the top of the table.
Reports in Spain have suggested Aguero, 23, is not enjoying living in Manchester and would welcome a return to La Liga and a country with which he is familiar. However, Madrid President Florentino Pérez and City owner Sheikh Mansour enjoy a close relationship, with both men having promised not to fight for the same player, and it may need some skilful negotiating to find a solution that suits everybody.
Mancini is anxious to strengthen his attack for next season and is understood to be keen on Arsenal’s Robin van Persie, although if the Dutchman decides to renew his contract with the London club then Higuaín, who has also been linked with Juventus, Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Chelsea, would be high on his list of options.
