Real Madrid eye Getafe ace

Rumours continue to gather pace that Real Madrid are on the verge of making a bid for Getafe ace Abdel Barrada, according to Tuttomercadoweb.

The Moroccan international midfielder is having a sensational season at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and has gone from being on the fringes of Luis Garcia’s team to one of the first names on his teamsheet, having made 26 appearances this term and scored four goals.

Barrada is believed to be highly rated by Real Madrid director of football Zinedine Zidane, who has been monitoring the 22-year-old’s progress since he made his Getafe debut in a 1-1 draw with Levante last November.

However, Madrid may wait to see if their second string Castilla can achieve promotion to La Segunda before making any decision, as the plan would be to give the French-born youngster some valuable playing time with them before making the step up to the first team. An offer of up to €4m plus sending a Castilla player in the other direction, either on loan or as part of a permanent agreement, could be enough to secure his signature.

Getafe President Angel Torres has an excellent relationship with his cross-city counterpart Florentino Perez and has assured him he will be the first to know if Los Azulones are prepared to do business.
