Aguero denies Madrid rumours
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has denied rumours he plans to leave the Etihad Stadium for a return to Spain with Real Madrid, reports Sky Sports.
The Argentine international, 23, has scored 19 goals in 29 Premier League appearances for Roberto Mancini’s team this season and has to contend with stories he is seeking a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, with even Diego Maradona suggesting he should join Real. Aguero is married to Maradona’s daughter Giannina and warned his son-in-law he will find it difficult to resist Real’s advances once they start trying to entice him.
“Kun has to play for Real Madrid” said Maradona. “Even though he is flying at City, the best thing would have been to sign for Madrid. He made a mistake. Now, as he is doing so well, it will be difficult to get him from City.
“However, if Madrid want someone, they get them. Florentino Perez has no limits. It’s a question of convincing City - but not with money, because they have plenty of that.”
Aguero joined City in a €45m deal from Atletico Madrid last summer but when asked if there was any truth in the rumours issued a categorical denial.
“The truth is that I am happy here, happy with my fellow players and the rest of the staff,” said Aguero. “The only thing I have to do is enjoy playing football. I hardly ever do interviews.
“Sometimes I have to get in touch to deny or correct the claims but I can't dispel every claim that is written about me. I repeat that I am very happy here and they invent things to try to compromise me."
