Romaric linked with France return

Sevilla midfielder Ndri Romaric is being linked with a return to France following some impressive displays while on loan at Espanyol this season.

El Desmarque says the Ivory Coast international, who joined Sevilla from Le Mans in May, 2008, is being tracked by Lille, Olympique Marseille and Lyon after cash-strapped Espanyol made it clear that they will not be exercising their right-to-buy option.

However, Sevilla understood Espanyol had agreed to purchase the player for €2.5m if he played a certain number of games (which he has done) and the Catalans qualified for European competition, something that is still up in the air with five games remaining.

Nonetheless, cash-strapped Espanyol now consider Romaric’s salary prohibitive and it seems certain he will return to the Sanchez Pizjuan at the end of the season before moving on.

Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido is understood to want to sell the 28-year-old to the highest bidder, as is the case with the club’s other on-loan players - Arouna Koné (Levante), Lautaro Acosta and Bernardo (both Racing Santander).
