Real Madrid are set to face David Beckham’s LA Galaxy in an August friendly, reports Cadena Ser.

The MLS club announced in a statement on Monday that the game would take place at Galaxy’s Home Depot Center stadium in Carson, California on August 2, and will form part of the World Football Challenge, a friendly competition between teams from Europe and the United States.

“We are excited to give our fans the chance to see one of the best teams in the world,” said Galaxy’s director of operations Chris McGowan. “It will be a tremendous event for football fans in southern California and will be one of the sporting events of the year.”

It will be the fourth time Real Madrid and Galaxy have met in California. The first occasion was a 2-0 win for Los Blancos at the Home Depot Center back in 2005, when Beckham formed part of the Madrid line-up.

In 2010 the sides met again at the Pasadena Rose Bowl, the Spanish giants running out 3-2 victors in front of 89,000 spectators, while last summer goals from Jose Callejon, Joselu, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema earned Real a 4-1 triumph in the LA Coliseum.
