Kaka nears PSG switch

A report in Sport suggests Kaka is just a short step away from making a move to French club Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian midfielder is under contract with Real Madrid until June, 2015 and is understood to earn €9m-a-year, yet his performances since joining three years ago from Milan have not reached anywhere near the level of those offered with the Italians, where he won the prestigious Ballon d’Or.

In his defence Kaka did not have the best of times with injuries in his first two years in Spain, yet this season he has been given more playing time with five goals in 27 league appearances, while still not quite living up to expectations.

Kaka, 30, is understood to want to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu, although reports in L’Equipe two weeks ago suggest he has already met with PSG’s Qatari President, Nasser al-Khelaifi, who tried to convince him to sign for the cash-rich French club and link up again with former Coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain was also reported to be present at the meeting (something he later denied) and although Real paid €65m for Kaka they could be prepared to let him go for around the €30m mark.
