Belgian ace admits Madrid contact

Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia has admitted in an interview with Todo Mercado Web that he has had contact with Real Madrid over a possible summer move.

The Argentine international has been with Anderlecht since a July, 2006 move from Independiente and since then has been capped six times by his country as well as winning two Belgian Pro Leagues, a Belgian Cup and three Belgian Super Cups. However, the 26-year-old has never disguised the fact he would like to test himself on a bigger stage after earning some rave reviews over the past couple of seasons.

“There has been contact with Real Madrid and also Arsenal and I am now waiting,” said the defensive midfielder. “I have a contract with Anderlecht until 2015 but the club knows what I want and that my intention is to leave. I have already said so.

“I have negotiated my rescission clause and if a club is willing to pay it Anderlecht will let me leave. They are aware I want to play for a team that is fighting for championships and is in either the Champions League or Europa League. There was a good offer from Fiorentina in January that the club rejected because we were mid-season,” he added.

Asked which club he is likely to decide upon if it was a straight choice between Real Madrid and the Gunners, Biglia was in no doubt.

“If Real Madrid decides to make an offer then everything else would be left to one side. That is my priority and we’ll see what happens."
