Dani Alves vows to see out Barça contract

Thursday 14 June 2012

Dani Alves has quashed speculation over his future by pledging to complete his Barcelona contract until 2016.

The right-back’s future had been shrouded in uncertainty in the wake of Pep Guardiola’s departure from Camp Nou, but the Brazilian has declared that he is happy in Barcelona.

“I have a contract until 2016 and I want to complete it,” he told Globosporte in Brazil. “I am happy in Barcelona, people talk a lot but they’re just rumours, there’s nothing real.”

Alves is currently in Brazil recovering from a dislocated shoulder sustained with Barcelona during the tail end of last season. He hopes to be fit to represent Brazil at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

“I will be totally fit by the beginning of July,” he said. “It’s [Brazil manager] Mano Manezes’ choice but I hope to be able to represent Brazil in the Games and realise my dream.”
