Rayo Vallecano sign Tamudo and tie Bangoura to four-year deal
Raúl Tamudo, without a team after being released by Real Sociedad at the end of last season, has signed a one-year deal with La Liga new boys Rayo Vallecano, who have also renewed the contract of Guinean midfielder Lass Bangoura for the next four seasons.
Tamudo became a legend at Espanyol after making his debut in the 1996/97 season, going on to spend 12 seasons with the Catalans before signing for Sociedad in summer 2010. The 33-year-old made 371 appearances for Los Periquitos with 136 goals, the club´s all-time top scorer, and his honours include two Copa del Reys, one Copa Cataluña and a gold medal as a member of the victorious Spanish team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In addition, he has also appeared 13 times for the full national side, scoring five goals.
Bangoura joined the Madrid club in the 2009/10 season from hometown team Etoile de Guinee and made his full league debut last March, coming off the bench in a 1-0 home win over Real Betis. The 19-year-old went on to make another three substitute appearances last term but has been used regularly during pre-season by Coach José Ramón Sandoval after rumours of interest from cross-city rivals Real Madrid surfaced during the summer.
