Aston Villas vs Man Utd - Match preview and prediction

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 03 December 2011

Aston Villa will be looking to reverse the form guide when they take on Premier League champions Manchester United.

The Villans have only won once out of their last 29 meetings with United, but Villa boss Alex McLeish is confident of getting a win. Captain Stiliyan Petrov returns to the side after missing last weekend's 0-0 draw with Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. Emile Heskey, who McLeish recently compared to as German legend Franz Beckenbauer, will make his 500th Premier League game.

United have not been as good as they are expected so far this season and are five points behind league leaders Manchester City. A favourable run of games approaches the champions and they will look to take advantage by winning against Villa. Dimitar Berbatov will miss out with an ankle injury and Danny Welbeck is a doubt with a muscle strain. Last weekend was a bad result for the champions and they couldn't break through a resilient Newcastle defence to get the win.

Villa's fans will be excited at the prospect of the Champions coming to town, but they may be going home after berating McLeish. The game has a United win written all over it and the critics won't be disappointed. Ferguson's side have too much quality for Villa within or without ranks.
