Lehmann slams Man City as boring

By Paul O'Meara

Thursday 08 December 2011

While working for Germany’s Sky television, Jens Lehmann said he is happy Man City are out of the Champions League and the competition is better off without them.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper could not hide his pleasure at Napoli joining Bayern Munich in the knockout stages, but also commented on the lack of atmosphere at the Ethiad stadium.

The German said: “Man City play very, very boring football, they just make their opponents fall asleep with lots of possession. That is not tactically very demanding. There was no life in the stadium, it was dead. The fans are so quiet. You have got to say, though, that they have not got anything really to get excited about here.”
