Lampard pledges loyalty to Chelsea but does not deny manager rift

Wednesday 04 January 2012

Despite reports that Frank Lampard had fallen out with manager Andre Villas-Boas, the Chelsea midfielder has reassured supporters his loyalty lies at Stamford Bridge whilst refusing to deny that the allegations of a rift between the pair are true.

Lampard had staked his claim for a first team place with a late winner against Wolves, but has found himself out of the starting line up on many occasions this season and the Englishman has made no secret of his frustration at the lack of opportunities.

It was speculated that following the game at Molineux, Villas-Boas and Lampard did not talk for the remainder of the evening. ESPN reports Lampard’s reaction: "I'll always be completely committed to Chelsea because they're my club and I love playing for them. I like to play 90 minutes and can't hide that - and I don't think the manager would expect anything else.”
