Tottenham have injury worries ahead of Arsenal derby clash

By Andy Brunning

Monday 20 February 2012

Spurs could be entertaining a host of injury problems for their crunch match against Arsenal this coming weekend, which could see several of their top players missing in action, reports Daily Mail.

Several squad members missed Sunday’s FA Cup stalemate with Stevenage; Emmanuel Adebayor suffered a knee injury in training, whilst Luka Modric was suffering from flu, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto was sidelined by a groin problem. Meanwhile, Rafael van der Vaart and Sandro have both been sidelined for the past few games with calf injuries.

Speaking on the injuries, Redknapp said, “Benoit had a small operation at the start of the week, so he wasn’t available. He should be fit but we will have to see with Adebayor - he did his knee on Friday morning, he twisted it, but it’s not too bad. Luka [Modric] had an unbelievable temperature; Ledley King was on the bench but he wasn’t fit.”

Victory in the derby game against Arsenal could see Spurs widen the gap between them and their rivals to thirteen points, and further consolidate their third place position.
