Henderson excited for training with Liverpool

By Bryan Waters

Tuesday 21 February 2012

Liverpool's Melwood training ground will be a competitive place this week as all players look to cement their place at Wembley, according to midfielder Jordan Henderson, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

The former England under 21 international is desperate to play in next weekend's Carling Cup final against Cardiff City, but faces fierce competition in midfield. Henderson played against Brighton in the FA Cup on Sunday, but Dalglish rested several senior players for the game including Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez and Craig Bellamy. The 21 year old believes that the Liverpool manager has a selection dilemma and believes that all Reds players are desperate to play.

Henderson said: 'There are a lot of people who want to play in the final and some will be disappointed. Everyone will be training hard all week and we're all desperate to get into the starting line-up. It's up to the manager to decide. Everyone is full of confidence and hopefully we can take that into the final at Wembley next week.'

The Reds face the possibility of winning their first trophy since their 2006 FA Cup triumph and this will be the first time Liverpool have been to the new Wembley. Dalglish and his troops are the favourites against Cardiff, but the Liverpool boss insists his side will not get carried away.
