Carroll believes he is hitting Liverpool heights

Tuesday 21 February 2012

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll reckons that he is finally coming into form and can show he is worthy of the £35m Liverpool paid in January 2011, The Sun reports.

The former Newcastle striker scored and played superbly in Liverpool's 6-1 drubbing of Brighton in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday and looks like he is in good form. Carroll has suffered a nightmare time so far after arriving with an ankle injury which kept him out for the first six months. The England international is coming back to form and the 23 year old is happy with what is happening at Anfield.

Carroll said: 'I feel I have just started to get going. I'm scoring goals and feel like I am doing well now. This is the best I've felt since I have been here, without a doubt. I feel fit and confident and I think it is showing in my performances. I'm getting around the pitch more and getting involved. I think it shows that I am happier and more confident.'

With the Carling Cup final coming on the weekend, Carroll is looking forward to the trip to Wembley and the chance to improve on the six goals he has scored this season. The 23 year old said: 'All the lads are looking forward to it. I've never been to a cup final and I cannot remember anything about when Newcastle went, to be honest.'
