Redknapp in line for lucrative Tottenham contract

Thursday 23 February 2012

Harry Redknapp is to be offered a lucrative new deal by Tottenham chiefs in a bid to keep him out of the clutches of the England job, The Mirror reports.

Spurs owner Daniel Levy is ready to make a quick move as Redknapp enters the final year of his current contract at White Hart Lane. The 64 year old has steered Tottenham into the top four of the Premier League this season and that has alerted England. After Fabio Capello’s resignation, Redknapp was immediately linked with the job and it is unknown whether he will make the switch.

Levy wants to hold onto Redknapp and reports suggest he will promise him money to spend on players in the summer, as well as the chance to build a big future with Tottenham. Lille playmaker Eden Hazard has been linked with Spurs and has called the club an ‘attractive proposition’.

The North London side are interested in Marseille striker Loic Remy and could make a move in the summer. Redknapp has denied claims of negotiations with the Football Association, but is happy to be linked and the appeal of the European Championships could be hard to turn down.
