Liverpool plotting triple summer swoop

Liverpool owner John Henry is ready to give Kenny Dalglish a war chest to bring some of Europe’s rising stars to Anfield next season, The Mirror reports.

Director of football Damien Comolli watched the Reds lift the Carling Cup on Sunday at Wembley and believes that their success has boosted the project to attract some of Europe’s best talent. The Reds are hopeful that they can reach Europe this season, which will increase their chances of attracting Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, Spain international Javi Martinez and Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita.

Comolli said: ‘There’s a very positive vibe around the club across Europe. A lot of players I know are very interested about joining the project, because it’s a very interesting project. We already know that there are big players who want to join us next summer, because they believe in the project. Everybody in Europe knows what Liverpool Football Club are trying to do’.

Henry has echoed the sentiments of Comolli, stating: ‘The supporters are used to a certain kind of excellence; to see that start to emerge again at Wembley is great. But this is just a great first step in what we are trying to accomplish, in moving in the direction that we hope we would move. It’s about silverware, right, so it will help us build on every level and it’s what our players and our fans expect.’
