Walcott issues Tottenham warning

Tuesday 13 March 2012

Theo Walcott has warned Tottenham Hotspur that they cannot afford to slip up again this season as Arsenal chase down their North London rivals in the race for third place, the Daily Telegraph has revealed.

Walcott said: “Tottenham have got to be watching over their shoulders now. It's been an up-and-down season, but it's the way you finish, and that's the most important thing.

The winger was part of the Arsenal side that defeated Newcastle United on Monday evening, helping the Gunners come from behind and take the points in the dying minutes of injury time. The Telegraph adds that in late February the gap between Arsenal and Spurs stood at potentially 13 points, but an Arsenal victory in the North London derby and Spurs’ own indifferent form have helped Arsene Wenger’s side almost overturn the deficit. Tottenham now lead Arsenal by a single point.

Arsenal have beaten both Liverpool and Newcastle 2-1 since winning the derby match 5-2 at the Emirates Stadium, while in that same time Tottenham have lost 3-1 to Manchester United and 1-0 to Everton.
