Dalglish delighted by Suarez commitment

Wednesday 21 March 2012

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has welcomed Luis Suarez’ comments rejecting speculation of a move to Paris Saint-Germain, adding that the club plans to offer the Uruguayan forward a new contract, the Guardian has reported.

Dalglish said: "It might be bad news for other Premier League teams but it is encouraging for us. We've been delighted with him since he has been here."

Suarez was on the score sheet on Sunday as Liverpool dispatched Stoke City 2-1 to reach the FA Cup semi-final and a possible Merseyside derby if Everton can overcome Sunderland in a replay at the Stadium of Light.

The goal was Suarez’s 11th of the season and his 15th overall for Liverpool since moving from Ajax in January 2011. The Guardian adds that Suarez’s current Liverpool contract does not expire until 2016 but both parties are keen to agree new terms.

Suarez has also scored eight times for Uruguay since July 2011, including netting all four goals in 4-0 triumph over Chile in a World Cup qualifier in November. Suarez helped Uruguay to victory in the Copa America last summer, scoring in the final against Paraguay.
