Chelsea considering summer move for Cristiano Ronaldo
Chelsea are sizing up an offer to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid as part of the major overhaul of their squad for next season, The Telegraph reports.
The Blues will be looking to improve their attacking options and have earmarked the Portuguese international, who became the fastest player to score 100 goals in Spanish league history. Ronaldo has also scored 35 league goals this season and the 27 year old has been in Madrid since his £80m move in 2009. Chelsea have admired Ronaldo for a long-time and chairman Roman Abramovich is prepared to break the bank in order to sign the Madrid forward.
Ronaldo has endured a tricky time in Madrid where relations with some of the Spanish players, and club’s supporters, which echoes boss Jose Mourinho’s report of a player revolt in the Spanish capital.
Former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas also earmarked Ronaldo’s teammate Gonzalo Higuain as a signing, but even with the 34 year old’s sacking, the Blues are still interested in Higuain. The Argentinian international seems to have fallen down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeau behind Karim Benzema and the 24 year old is open to a move away.
