Lambert delighted with Holt and Morison progress

Tuesday 03 April 2012

Norwich City manager Paul Lambert has expressed his happiness with how strikers Grant Holt and Steve Morison have adapted to life in the Premier League. The two frontmen have combined for 23 goals between them in all competitions this season and are looking solid as Norwich continue to push for a top eight finish this season.

Holt joined at Carrow Road in 2009 from League Two side Shrewsbury Town and has turned into a dangerous striker for Lambert’s side. There had been calls for Holt to be drafted into the England set-up for the recent friendly with Holland and this season has been Holt’s first in the Premier League. Lambert has been delighted with the way Holt’s career has changed and is delighted with how his striker has been playing. However, the Norwich boss is without the 30 year old this weekend as he was red-carded against Wolves last weekend.

Morison joined Norwich this summer from Millwall after a career spent flitting around the lower leagues. The 28 year old was playing non-league football with Bishop’s Stortford before making the move to the New Den and now Lambert has taken advantage of his great goalscoring exploits at Carrow Road. Morison has also made appearances for Wales this season and Lambert believes that both Morison and Holt deserve what they get for their endeavour and determination.

Lambert said: “I think it’s great for them as individuals, it’s great for their careers and great for their morale. Morison was already playing for Wales when he was at Millwall, so he has just carried that on. Holty, coming from where he came from, has been a dramatic rise in his career and people are speaking about him playing for England. What the two of them have done for me has been brilliant.”
