Arsenal interested in Sunderland forward Sessegnon
The Daily Mail has reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has included Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon on his list of summer transfer targets, adding that the Gunners are one of a number of clubs hoping to take Sessegnon from Martin O’Neill’s side.
As well as Arsenal, the Mail names the Gunners North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Premier League counterparts Liverpool and petrodollar-fuelled Paris Saint-Germain, Sessegnon’s former club, as the Benin international’s list of suitors.
The Mail also reveals that Sessegnon has suffered from homesickness during his time on Wearside, with manager O’Neill admitting the player’s unrest is a subject that will have to be discussed at the end of the season. The 27-year-old Sessegnon arrived at the Stadium of Light in January 2011, bought by former Black Cats manager Steve Bruce from PSG. Since then, Sessegnon has scored 11 goals in 49 appearances, including eight strikes in 35 games this season.
