Terry insists he will be fit for hectic Chelsea run-in
Chelsea captain John Terry has insisted he will be available for Chelsea’s busy end to the season despite two fractured ribs suffered in the Champions League quarter-final win over Benfica, the Guardian has reported.
Terry was withdrawn in the 59th minute of the 2-1 victory over the Portuguese side, with England international Gary Cahill coming on in his place. A scan later revealed Terry had suffered two fractured ribs in the first-leg against Benfica, only to make the injury worse at Stamford Bridge. In between the two matches Terry also played 90 minutes against Aston Villa, helping Chelsea to a 4-2 victory at Villa Park.
Terry is quoted as saying: “I don't think it will mean I'm out at all. It's just a case of managing it, and things like that. I know there are ways around it.” The Guardian claim Terry will be rested for Chelsea’s match with Wigan Athletic on Saturday but Chelsea face seven games in April and at least three in May - possibly five if the club was to reach the finals of both the FA Cup and Champions League.
