Wenger believes Arsenal experience has been vital

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners’ greater experience of what it takes to qualify for the Champions League has been vital in their battle for third place in the Premier League with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the Independent has reported.

Wenger’s side have endured a topsy-turvy season, languishing in seventh at one point before a seven game winning run propelled Arsenal into third. But that streak game to a shuddering end when Arsenal were defeated by relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers, throwing the Champions League qualification race wide open once more.

The French manager is quoted as saying: “When things are going well the players the press and the fans all have more certainty, and so it's easier. But it's these moments when experience helps, because it's important not to question and change the wrong things.

Arsenal’s season of extremes was encapsulated in their Champions League exit when, in the first-leg away to Serie A champions Milan, Wenger’s side were comprehensively beaten 4-0. In the return leg, however, Arsenal roared back to take the game at the Emirates Stadium 3-0, agonisingly close to overturning the large deficit.
