Mata has faith Chelsea can cope with busy schedule

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata believes his teammates’ faith in themselves will be crucial as the Blues face six games in 18 days, including matches in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Champions League as well as continuing the battle to reach the top four of the Premier League, the Daily Mail has reported.

Mata, who scored a late winning goal as Chelsea defeated Wigan Athletic 2-1 on Saturday, was one of only four players to start against both Benfica in midweek and the Latics at the weekend. A number of senior Chelsea players dropped out of the XI, including Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, who were both carrying injuries while John Terry missed out after breaking two ribs.

The Mail add that Chelsea looked sluggish against Roberto Martinez’s side, and, when Mata was asked how Chelsea could cope with so many important games in such a short period of time, the World Cup winner replied: “With faith, with faith. The faith I think is more important than the muscles or being tired. So we are training well to be ready for Monday.
