Dalglish facing uncertain Liverpool future
The position of Kenny Dalglish as Liverpool manager is far from secure after a run of form that has taken the Reds out of Champions League contention and to eighth in the Premier League, Sky Sports has reported.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement programme, Times journalist Oliver Kay said that while Liverpool have recorded a Carling Cup victory and progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup under the guidance of Dalglish, it may not be enough to keep the Scot in his job thanks to the club’s poor league form. Kay said: “They got to the Cup semi-final, won the Carling Cup, but their league results have been dire for the last couple of months and that is a real concern.”
The draw with Aston Villa on Saturday ended Liverpool’s run of three consecutive league defeats but extended the wait for a league victory, with three points not having arrived at Anfield since defeating Everton 3-0 in the Merseyside derby in March. The Toffees also form Liverpool’s FA Cup opposition, with the semi-final taking place at Wembley on Saturday.
