Liverpool goalkeeper loan move ruled out

Liverpool will not be allowed to bring in extra cover for third-choice goalkeeper Brad Jones ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash against Everton this weekend, according to BBC Sport.

The Reds’ first-choice stopper Jose Reina is serving a three-match suspension following his red card at the Sports Direct Arena earlier this month, while back-up Alexander Doni was sent-off in the 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers last night.

Kenny Dalglish was thought to be exploring his options ahead of the key game on Saturday, however Premier League rules indicate that an emergency goalkeeper could only be signed if the current stoppers were injured, rather than suspended.

Australian Brad Jones, who was signed by former manager Roy Hodgson for £2.3m from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2010, will stand between the sticks at Wembley. Meanwhile either 18-year-old Danny Ward or 17-year-old Tyrell Belford is likely to be on the bench for that game.
