Newcastle goalie Krul on Chelsea radar

Sunday 15 April 2012

Chelsea are looking to lure Newcastle United’s highly-rated goalkeeper Tim Krul to Stamford Bridge this summer, the Daily Mail claims.

The Blues are concerned over the form of long-standing stopper Petr Cech and would be willing to splash out £15m to land Krul.

The 24-year-old has been in sparkling form this season, making a number of terrific saves and keeping 13 clean sheets to help the Magpies stay in contention for a top-six finish in the Premier League.

Although Krul signed a new, long-term deal at Newcastle earlier this year, owner Mike Ashley would be willing to sell one of his prized assets if the price is right.

Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final opponents Tottenham are also looking to find a long-term replacement for their ageing goalkeeper Brad Friedel, but according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s potential offer of a £90,000-a-week salary for Krul would knock Spurs out of the water.
