Tottenham vs Chelsea - Match preview and team news

By A Different League staff

Sunday 15 April 2012

Tottenham and Chelsea face eachother at Wembley Stadium today to determine which London side will face Liverpool in the FA Cup final 2012.

The two sides may be rivals geographically, but this season are also going head-to-head for the lucrative final Champions League positions available, with fourth spot currently occupied by the White Hart Lane outfit.

Going into this game, Chelsea are on a run of six games unbeaten, and only one defeat in their last 11 matches, an impressive start for interim manager Roberto Di Matteo. Tottenham meanwhile have had a less positive set of results, recording just three wins from their last 11 ties, including a surprise 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Norwich on Monday night. For both sides however, it will be an opportunity to forget momentarily about their Champions League chase.

In terms of team news, Spurs will be without three central defenders, as Ledley King (Knee), Michael Dawson (ankle), and Younes Kaboul (knee) are unavailable, meaning January signing Ryan Nelsen will partner ex-Chelsea man William Gallas. Scott Parker faces a late fitness test.

For Chelsea, Ashley Cole and John Terry are set to win fitness battles to start, but full-back Branislav Ivanovic begins a three match ban.
